Apple introduces a new feature to the Camera app in the upcoming iOS 18 stable release. You will find a pause option in the Camera app, so you can pause and resume while recording a video on an iPhone. As an early access, the video pause feature has been rolled for iPhones running iOS 18 Beta. It is excellent news for those who want to capture multiple shots in a single video instead of recording new videos each time.
How to Pause Video Recording on iPhone running iOS 18
The pause and resume feature also saves time, so you don’t need to capture lengthy videos for a specific shot. You can find the Pause button in the lower-left corner of the camera app. Clicking this button will pause the video recording, and clicking it again will resume it.
When the video is paused, you can see a PAUSE indicator at the top underneath the recording time. Moreover, the pause button will transform into a record button to let you know that it will resume the recording once you press it.

Alternative App You Can Use to Pause Video Recording on iPhone
If you have an iPhone X, iPhone 8, and earlier models, you can’t upgrade it to iOS 18. In such scenarios, you can try a third-party app like PauseCam on your iPhone to pause videos while video recording. PauseCam is available for free download in the App Store.
1. Run the PauseCam app on your iPhone. Click Enable Camera and Enable Microphone to proceed. Then, grant the app permission to access your iPhone’s camera and mic.
2. Hit the Record button in the app center to go into the recording mode. Basically, the app will run on the rear camera. To change it, tap the Eye icon.
3. When the recording begins, tap the Pause icon to pause the live recording at any instance you want. To resume it, hit the Record icon again.
4. Once complete, hit the Checkmark icon in the upper right to stop recording.
5. You can see a preview of a video recording. If you are fine with the recording, click Share. You will get options to share via YouTube and Instagram.
Note – You can also save the video in different qualities, such as Original, High, Medium, and Low. If you are a free user, you can only save the video in low quality.
