In the latest update, Google Photos replaces its existing “Library” tab with “Collections.” They have tried this attempt to help users view media files better. In this tab, you can see all items in an organized way, so you can access shared albums and other documents in separate folders.
Although the Library is replaced with Collections on Google Photos, it still features the same bookshelf-style icon. Google has already started rolling out this feature on Android and iOS, but it may take a few weeks to launch on all devices.
This change is mainly due to many people’s reports of difficulty finding shared folders. It is an initial step to provide support for the upcoming Gemini-powered Ask Photos assistant. In addition, Google revamped the Search tab with additional categories such as Favorites, Screenshots, Bin, and Archive.0
Google Photos removed the Utilities folder completely, but its functions are still available. You can create a locked folder by scrolling to the bottom of Collections. Then, click on Locked to access it. Tap the “+ symbol to import photos, create albums and collages, and highlight videos.
To free up storage memory, tap the Account profile picture or Initial and click Free up space on this device. To archive photos, choose a photo, click More, and tap Move to archive. For adding photo frames, tap profile picture or Initial and hit Photos settings. After that, tap Apps & devices and click Photo frames.
