Apple introduced Distraction Control for Safari by updating iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. This feature enables you to block unwanted pop-ups, such as prompts related to email newsletter signing up, autoplay videos, and third-party cookies. Thus, making it convenient to surf web pages without any mess.
If you use Distraction Control for the first time, the Safari browser will show a message stating that limitation. It is very helpful, especially when you do online shopping, read articles and much more.
Steps to Use Distraction Control on Safari
Visit a particular webpage using Safari on your iPhone or iPad. Scroll the webpage, and you will see pop-ups. Tap the Page Menu icon and click Hide Distracting Items. On the pop-up menu, tap OK. Now, select a pop-up you want to hide and tap Hide.
The good thing about Safari is that it remembers things and auto-hides them when you visit the corresponding website again. To retrieve hidden parts of a website by clicking the Show Hidden Items option in the Safari page menu. However, this Distraction Control feature can’t block every advertisement you see while browsing the internet.
