Back in May, Spotify imposed a limit on free users’ viewing of lyrics to three songs a month. Now, Spotify has removed that restriction, so any unpaid user can see lyrics for any song with no cap. According to reports, they are planning to expand lyrics availability globally in the upcoming weeks for all Spotify free users.
Spotify made this move in response to backlash when it forced free users to upgrade to premium to enjoy the lyrics feature. We can clearly understand that this free offering will prevent existing free users from looking for alternative music streaming services.
When we surf social media, we find many Spotify free users are overwhelmed by this change. However, they have yet to confirm how many songs to listen to with lyrics for free. Hopefully, the limit is extremely high compared to the previous limit of three songs.
Amidst the change, Spotify has confirmed that it has gained monthly active users by 14% over a year. They also mentioned that they are working on a new Deluxe plan that offers very high audio quality, hassle-free controls, and more features.
