Back in 2020, Samsung reached a milestone in the smartphone realm by introducing the foldable phone carrying the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold Series. Later, many popular brands like Infinix, Xiaomi, Vivo, and others released their folding phones, while the iPhone has the same pattern every year.
Following this unique pattern, there’s been a rumor spreading all over the internet that Apple has been designing two folding iPhone prototypes since February. Recently, based on Asia Today’s online report, the Cupertino-based tech giant might roll out the first-ever foldable iPhone in early 2026.
This rumor is confirmed by Apple’s latest patent approval, titled “Electronic Devices With Durable Folding Displays.” This clearly reveals that the company is producing flexible and long-lasting displays. The patent approval made some users think that Apple has finalized the flip-style design. Also, this isn’t the first time that Apple has declared a foldable device. A few months back, Apple’s supply chain analysis reported that the foldable 20.3-inch MacBook is expected to hit the market in 2027 in his tweet on X.
According to the information from DigiTimes Asia, their sources have confirmed that the screen for the foldable iPhone will be supplied by Samsung, just like in old times. Some reports also state that the first foldable iPhone might have the same dimensions as the current models. However, there’s a possibility that Apple might produce its first foldable iPhone in different dimensions.
Besides foldable, rumors say that Apple might make preparations to roll out the forthcoming year’s iPhone with a much thinner display, never than before.
Wrapping Up!
Even though Apple lags behind in implementing some of the latest technologies, it retains first place when it comes to innovation and privacy. Competing with Samsung and other popular brands, Apple is looking forward to implementing new design changes in the future. The upcoming folding iPhone might be one of Apple’s best benchmarks.
