Roku TV has multiple connectivity ports for external devices like gaming consoles, streaming devices, soundbars, and more. To connect the Nintendo Wii to your Roku TV, you need the help of AV cables that come with your console. Instead of AV cables, you can use HDMI cables along Wii HDMI adapter to connect the console with your TV. In this guide, we have explained both procedures in detail.
How to Connect Nintendo Wii to Roku TV
You can easily connect the Wii console or Wii mini to Roku TV using the AV cables or the HDMI cable with adapter.
Using AV Cables
- Plug in the Wii AV cable to the AV Multi Out connector on the back of your Wii console.
- Now, connect the three colored RCA pins of the Wii AV cable to the AV input port on your Roku TV.
- If you find a single RCA port on your Roku TV, purchase and connect a 3.5 mm to 3 RCA cable to your TV. Now, connect the RCA pins of the Wii AV cable to the RCA cable.
- Turn on your Roku TV and the Nintendo Wii console.
- Go to Settings on your Roku TV and choose the TV Inputs option.
- Select and change the input on your Roku TV to AV.
Using HDMI Adapter
If the AV port on your TV is not working, you can connect the Wii console to your Smart TV using an HDMI cable and a Wii HDMI adapter.
- Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on your TV.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the Wii HDMI adapter.
- Now, connect the Wii HDMI Adapter to your console.
- Head to Settings on your Roku TV, and choose TV Inputs → HDMI.
- Ensure to choose the right HDMI port to which you have connected the HDMI cable.
Once done, you can play the desired games on your Roku TV.
Can I Connect Nintendo Wii to Roku TV Using Component Video Cables?
Yes. If your Smart TV with built-in Roku OS contains the audio/video jack and the component input jack, you can use the component video cables to connect the console. However, the component input is mostly not available on the Roku TVs.
Find the audio/video jack and component input jack on your Smart TV. Plug the component cables into the respective color port on your TV.
- Red – Pr/CR
- Blue – Pb/Cb
- Green – Y
- Red – Audio input right
- White – Audio input left
Now, connect the rectangular plug on the other end of the component video cable to the Digital AV Out port on your Wii console. Once done, go to your Smart TV settings and choose the respective input.
If your TV fails to detect the connected input source, restart your Roku TV by unplugging all the cables and connect them back after a few minutes. If the problem continues, contact the support team of Nintendo. When the issue is with your Roku TV, contact the Roku customer support and explain the issue clearly. They will help you with the necessary solution to fix the issue.
